Doctors Hospital Breaks Ground on Emergency Room Saunders
Participating in the groundbreaking ceremony included, among others, Jim Resendez, CEO of Doctors Hospital; Charles Stark, RVP, Acute Care Division, UHS; Doug Matney, VP of Ambulatory Emergency Services, UHS; Mateo Reyes, MD, DHL Chief of Staff; Pete Saenz, Mayor of Laredo; Tano Tijerina, Webb County Judge; Albert Torres, City Councilman (District IV); and Miguel Conchas, President and CEO of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce.
Doctors Hospital of Laredo (DHL) broke ground on its second freestanding emergency department: Doctors Hospital Emergency Room Saunders. When completed, the 10,346 square-foot facility will provide much needed additional 24-hour emergency medical services to central Laredo. With an investment of around $9 million, Doctors Hospital Emergency Room Saunders will feature six exam rooms, three rapid medical exam spaces and three internal waiting spaces. Completion of Doctors Hospital Emergency Room Saunders is scheduled for the fall of 2019.

Conveniently located at 1300 Saunders Street (1301 E. Olive Street), with easy access to main city arteries including McPherson Road, Highway 59 and IH 35, Doctors Hospital Emergency Room Saunders will also offer diagnostic laboratory and radiology services, including X-ray, CT and ultrasound.
