Doctors Hospital ER South and ER Saunders Awarded Acute Stroke Ready Certification from The Joint Commission

ER South and ER Saunders (both a Service of Doctors Hospital of Laredo) have earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Acute Stroke Ready Certification.

Doctors Hospital ER South and ER Saunders underwent rigorous, unannounced onsite reviews on May 9th and 10th. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards including best practices for emergent treatment acute ischemic stroke, program management, supporting self-management, and delivering and facilitating clinical care. The Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. The reviewers also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
